CBSE Class 10 Class 12 Board Exams 2021: The announcement by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding the cancellation of Class 10 Board Exam 2021 and postponement of Class 12 Board Exam 2021 earlier this month has certainly brought some relief among the students and the guardians. However, there are various concerns regarding CBSE’s decision as well.

At present, the unprecedented rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country would certainly make conducting the CBSE Class 10 Class 12 Board Exams 2021 impossible. Incidentally, the CBSE Class 10 Class 12 Board Exams 2021 were scheduled to commence from May 4, 2021 and continue till June 14, 2021.
With the cancellation of the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021, the CBSE has stated that the results of the Class 10 Board Exam 2021 students will be prepared on the basis of an ‘objective criterion’ to be decided by the board. However, the board has not yet issued any official clarification regarding this objective criterion.
As far as the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 is concerned, it is postponed as of now and decision regarding the Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be undertaken after a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation in the country on June 1, 2021. The students must not worry about the fact that the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 schedule will be announced all of sudden as the CBSE will notify the students regarding the commencement of the exams 15 days before the exams start.
One more issue concerning the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 candidates is the practical exams. The practical exams for CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 students started from the month of March and at present these exams are also being held up because of the strict restrictions imposed by various states. It is also expected that a clarification on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 practical exams will also be issued after the thorough review on June 1, 2021.
In other news, the CBSE has announced a competency-based question pattern for classes 9 to 12 from the academic session 2021-22. The circular by CBSE reads, “Augmenting the thrust towards CBE, the Board is initiating further corresponding changes in the Examination and Assessment practices for the year 2021-22.” As a result, in the forthcoming sessions a greater number of Competency Based Questions or questions that assess application of concepts in real-life/ unfamiliar situations will be part of the question paper. This new question pattern will evaluate the application of concepts by the students in real-life or unfamiliar situations.
